Diego Costa arrival could see Wolves star’s exit ‘accelerated’, with late European bid ramping up

Adama Traore is still in talks with Galatasaray over a move across Europe before the transfer window closes in Turkey, a report claims.

The winger has enjoyed spells in and out of the team at Molineux and subsequent patches of mixed form. His highlights came under Nuno Espirito Santo, who got the best out of the Spain international.

Since Nuno’s last season in charge, though, and the move to Bruno Lage’s stewardship, Traore has struggled.

The attacker’s goal contributions and minutes have both decreased, with Traore coming off the bench now a regular sight.

With his Wolves contract running out next summer, he has had long-term links with a move away. Most recently, Barcelona rejected the chance to turn his loan move into a permanent one. And Tottenham have not signed him despite strong interest from Antonio Conte.

However, according to Sporx, Traore could yet move to Turkey before their transfer deadline of 12am on Friday local time (10pm BST on Thursday).

Negotiations between Traore, Wolves and Galatasaray started in the middle of last week.

The attacker wants €4million per season, but Galatasaray’s best offer so far is €2.7million. Both parties are therefore working to find a compromise in the hours that remain.

Indeed, the report adds that talks could be ‘accelerated’ if they start to find common ground. The report comes amid Wolves signing striker Diego Costa after an injury to summer signing Sasa Kalajdzic. Traore’s place in the team will be even more unclear when the Brazilian arrives.

Galatasaray reportedly offered Wolves a one-year loan deal for Traore, but the report does not mention the final decision on a type of transfer that could be agreed.

A one-year loan deal would see Traore run down the last year of his contract away from Wolves before becoming a free agent.

It looks highly unlikely at this stage that the 26-year-old will extend his terms at Molineux.

Adama Traore needs fresh start

Traore has proved a mixed bag for Wolves. When he is in his best form, there are arguably few players better at running with the ball and pushing defenders away, before creating meaningful chances.

However, when he plays and is not in form, he stands out among the crowd.

There have also been concerns over his finishing at Wolves, which he has never quite mastered. Lage, who wants two out-and-out strikers in his team, has struggled to find a place for Traore in his team.

The winger tried his luck at Barcelona, but he never hit the heights. Xavi’s side did not opt to use their option to buy.

A move to Tottenham would have been an exciting proposition, working under Antonio Conte in a wing-back position – as was planned.

However, a move away from a major European league and away from the limelight may be just what Traore needs.

He could move to Turkey knowing that he will not have as many observers of his performances. It was at Middlesbrough where Traore initially made his name before signing for Wolves.

At the North East club, he was a raw talent who had all the attributes to be an impressive winger prospect.

After a couple of seasons without his best form, a fresh start away from Wolves – be it this season or next summer – would be best for his career.
