Alexander-Arnold gives his verdict on Jude Bellingham as Liverpool prepare for summer bidding war

Jude Bellingham and Trent Alexander Arnold

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham is Liverpool’s number one this summer, and Trent Alexander-Arnold has been full of praise for the 19-year-old.

It’s no secret that Jurgen Klopp is looking to revamp his midfield ahead of next season, as that has arguably been one of the Red’s weak points recently.

However, with Bellingham valued at a staggering €150m (£132.7m) by Dortmund, Liverpool will have to put their money where their mouth is to get a sensational deal over the line.

As previously reported by TEAMtalk, Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid, along with Liverpool are thought to be leading the race, so there could be a bidding war for the midfielder this summer.

Bellingham has proven his quality time and time again in the Bundesliga, so it’s no surprise to see so much interest.

Since joining Dortmund from Birmingham City in 2020, the midfielder has featured 119 times across all competitions, scoring 20 goals and making 24 assists.

Bellingham has also captained the German giants on multiple occasions, showing he has the mentality, leadership attributes and quality to succeed at the highest level.

He was also a key player for England during the World Cup last year, making five appearances under Gareth Southgate, scoring one goal and assisting another.

Trent praises ‘incredible’ Bellingham amid Liverpool links

Amid growing links to Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold has heaped praise on Bellingham, who he has played with on several occasions for England.

Speaking to JOE, he said: “He’s an incredible player, especially for his age.

“I think, deep down, only he knows his ceiling. I think there isn’t really one. He can achieve what he wants to.

“He’s got everything he needs to go and do that. He’s one of those players that you just enjoy watching, enjoy seeing.

“The sky’s the limit for him – he’s an incredible player and an incredible person.”

With that in mind, the Liverpool defender would undoubtedly love to see Bellingham at Anfield, but as mentioned, they are not the only big European club pushing to sign him this summer.

The other issue with their pursuit is that the Reds may struggle to qualify for the Champions League next season, which could greatly reduce their spending power this summer.

On the other hand, Manchester City and Manchester United look likely to be competing in the competition, so, if they are willing to pay Bellingham’s price tag, they would also have a good chance of securing a deal.

Klopp is thought to be very determined to come out on top in the race for the Englishman, though, so it will be a very interesting few months as we edge towards the end of the season.
