Everton and Aston Villa eyeing up ambitious move for former Chelsea striker, as huge price tag is revealed

Roma have reportedly slapped a hefty price tag on their star striker Tammy Abraham, amid interest from Everton and Aston Villa.

Overall, the England international has been outstanding in Italy since leaving Chelsea in 2021, so it’s unsurprising to see interest in his signature.

With both clubs looking to add striker reinforcements ahead of next season, it will be interesting to see if any of the premier league clubs meet Roma’s price tag.

According to a report from Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian giants would consider bids in the region of €75m (approx. £66.2m) for Abraham this summer.

Last season, the English centre-forward scored an impressive 27 goals in 53 appearances in all competitions – making him their best-ever performing new signing.

However, he has failed to replicate that form this term, netting just seven times in 34 outings for the Giallorossi.

The report adds that Abraham must must ‘wake up’ or ‘he will leave,’ confirming that Roma will listen to offers for the 25-year-old if he doesn’t improve his performance in the second part of the campaign.

Abraham could be a huge signing for Everton or Villa

Despite Abraham’s inconsistent form in the Serie A this season, both Everton and Aston Villa are thought to be on the hunt for a new centre-forward for next season, so he could be an excellent addition for either of them.

The Toffees are currently in the midst of yet another relegation battle after picking up just 22 points from a possible 78 so far this season, with a lack of a proven goal scorer proving to be a huge issue.

Everton’s number nine Dominic Calvert-Lewin has endured another injury-plagued campaign, while summer signing Neal Maupay has scored just one league goal in 19 league appearances since making the switch from Brighton.

In fact, the Merseyside club have scored the joint-least goals (19) of any Premier League club so far.

If they do drop to the Championship, it’s very unlikely Everton would be able to lure Abraham to Goodison Park, but if they can survive under Sean Dyche, he could be exactly what they need.

Aston Villa, on the other hand, should stay up without any problems, but Unai Emery is keen to bolster his squad ahead of next season.

His current main strikers are Ollie Watkins and January addition Jhon Duran, but with the latter still just 19 and more of a long-term prospect, Abraham would arguably be an upgrade on both of them, so it will be interesting to see if Villa make a summer bid.

The clear issue with the Premier League duo’s pursuit of the England international is, however, the price tag.

£66.2m is a lot of money for both clubs, so it would be a big call for them to put all their eggs in one basket and splash out on the striker – but this is definitely one to watch.
