Wenger adds fuel to recent Mourinho spat with ‘kindergarten’ claim
Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he feels like he is “in kindergarten” with Jose Mourinho, after adding to the recent spat between the pair.
Mourinho boastfully claimed last week that the reason he did not get a mention in Wenger’s new autobiography is because he “never beat me”.
However Wenger has now hit back at his former rival, who faced off with the Frenchman while manager at Chelsea and Manchester United.
“It doesn’t bother me. It’s permanent provocation,” Wenger told French broadcaster Canal+. “I feel like I’m in kindergarten with him. But that’s part of his personality.
“We beat him twice. We won, and there were also a lot of draws.
“It’s not ‘you’ who wins, you only participate in the victory. It’s ‘us’ who win. The manager is there to get the most out of a team.”
Despite Wenger’s correction, Wenger had to have 14 matches against a Mourinho side before beating him.
What’s more there were only two wins across the 19 meetings between the two managerial greats.
The pair’s rivalry spilt over in 2014 when they clashed on the touchline at Stamford Bridge in a Premier League game.
Mourinho said last week: You are not going to do a chapter about 12 or 14 matches and never win one so why should he speak about me in his book?
“A book is a thing to make you happy, to make you proud so I understand perfectly the situation.”
Wenger led Arsenal to three Premier League titles and seven FA Cup triumphs during his time at The Emirates.
Mourinho, meanwhile, also won three top-flight crowns in two spells with Chelsea.

Mourinho hints at Tottenham mentality problem
Skip forward to the present day and Mourinho is hoping to lead his new-look Tottenham side up the table.
However his team threw away a three-goal lead on Sunday against West Ham, who staged a miraculous comeback.
Speaking after the clash, Mourinho admitted that his side struggled to cope as the Hammers grew in confidence.
