Exclusive: Fulham spy cut-price deal for former Barcelona defender Juan Miranda to tick off Marco Silva priority

Fulham target Juan Miranda

Real Betis defender Juan Miranda is a target for Fulham

Fulham are eyeing a move for Real Betis defender Juan Miranda as they look to bolster their full-back options, TEAMtalk understands.

Craven Cottage boss Marco Silva has made reinforcements at full-back one of his top priorities before the close of the transfer window.

Antonee Robinson, who recently signed a long-term contract extension, is Fulham’s only recognised left-back following the departure of Joe Bryan earlier this summer when his contract expired, paving the way for him to join Millwall. Subsequently, Silva wants to add cover and competition on the left side of his defence.

Miranda has caught the attention of Silva after impressing at Real Betis over the past couple of seasons and he is also capable of playing further up the left flank.

The 23-year-old re-joined Betis from Barcelona on a permanent basis in the summer of 2021 after being on loan there since October 2020. In 79 appearances for Los Verdiblancos, he has scored six goals and provided nine assists.

Miranda is entering the final year of his contract at Betis – whose academy he developed in before moving to Barcelona – and Fulham hope they could maybe land the defender for a cut-price fee due to his situation.

They would be providing him with his first taste of Premier League action, although he has ventured outside his native country before to represent German side Schalke on loan from Barcelona in the 2019-20 season.

He also has one cap to his name at international level for Spain, in which he scored.
