Sources: Man Utd confident about signing Sofyan Amrabat after Ten Hag demand, but two players must be sold first

Sofyan Amrabat is a target for Man Utd

Manchester United are confident about signing both Sofyan Amrabat and Rasmus Hojlund after Erik ten Hag demanded new players be brought in as soon as possible.

Man Utd are locked in talks with Atalanta to make Hojlund their new centre-forward. They have bid an initial €50m (£43m), plus a further €10m (£8.5m) in add-ons for the Dane. However, more negotiations may be needed before an agreement can be reached as Atalanta ideally want €70m (£60m).

Paris Saint-Germain have tried to hijack the move by bidding £43m for Hojlund, while also holding discussions with the attacker over a potential contract.

Despite this, I have been told Man Utd remain confident of winning the race for Hojlund. But he is not the only player they want to land in the near future, with Fiorentina midfielder Amrabat also a target.

While Ten Hag has made it clear he is happy with the signings of Mason Mount and Andre Onana, he wants the arrivals of Hojlund and Amrabat to be done and dusted as soon as possible. This is to prevent Man Utd from having to do business in the last week of August.

I understand Amrabat is a player Ten Hag is eager to capture. Although, the deal is dependent on some outgoings first.

Fred and Donny van de Beek are the two players Man Utd will have to move on to make room for Amrabat in the squad. Man Utd believe they have a good chance of shifting the duo on.

Fred, Van De Beek to make way for Sofyan Amrabat

Fred is understood to be in talks over a switch to Galatasaray. Van De Beek’s next destination is less clear, though he did admit recently it is ‘possible’ he will leave Old Trafford.

The only trouble for Man Utd, in terms of trying to sign Amrabat, is that they will face competition from Spain for his services. I have been told that Atletico Madrid are pushing hard to sign him, but Man Utd remain confident they will complete the deal first.

Meanwhile, Man Utd and Arsenal will be on alert after a ‘silky’ Premier League ace was backed to join a ‘top club’ in the future.
