Scottish giants Rangers failed in their attempts to sign Egypt star Ibrahim Adel during the summer, TEAMtalk understands – while the 22-year-old is also picking up interest from a host of Premier League sides.

Adel is currently representing Pyramids in the top flight of Egyptian football. He has emerged on the radars of plenty of teams around Europe after being named Player of the Tournament at this summer’s Africa Cup of Nations U23 Championship, during which Egypt lost in the final to Morocco.

Chelsea, Newcastle United, Brighton and Hove Albion, Aston Villa, West Ham United and Burnley have all checked in on the left winger’s progress. Belgian sides Anderlecht and Club Brugge have expressed an interest in him, too.

However, TEAMtalk understands it was Rangers who held talks with Pyramids to try and land Adel in the summer window. But a deal could not be agreed in time for the attacker to move to Ibrox.

Even though the transfer window has shut for most clubs around Europe, there is still a chance Adel will leave Pyramids this month. That is because Russian clubs are keen on the four-cap Egypt international, and their window does not close until Thursday.

Adel has previously been tipped to sign for Liverpool, in a move which would see him play alongside compatriot Mo Salah. However, Liverpool are no longer in the mix for him and he could resultantly move elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have reportedly drawn up a three-man shortlist of potential striker signings, and it includes top stars from the Premier League and German Bundesliga.
