Farke ecstatic as Leeds laugh off record-breaking bid for key star and eighth signing joins

New Leeds Utd manager Daniel Farke

Leeds Utd manager Daniel Farke

Leeds have reportedly rejected an offer from Burnley for winger Crysencio Summerville, and have just made their eighth summer signing.

It’s going to be a busy end to the transfer window for Daniel Farke, with several Whites players still being targeted by Premier League sides.

The manager will undoubtedly want to keep hold of his best players as Leeds look to secure promotion from the Championship at the first time of asking.

Summerville is going to be key to their promotion push, too. The 21-year-old made 33 appearances in all competitions for Leeds last season, scoring five goals and making six assists in the process.

Summerville scored in the Whites’ Championship opener against Cardiff, too, but has been unavailable since then with a minor injury.

He is touted to have huge potential and as a result, is on the radar of several Premier League clubs. One of those is Burnley.

According to reputed transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Burnley submitted a £20m bid for Summerville ‘in the last 24 hours.’

Despite this being a club-record bid for Burnley, Leeds instantly rejected the offer ‘out of hand’, with Romano adding that there was ‘no chance’ that a deal would be agreed for such a low fee. It remains to be seen if the Clarets will return with a higher offer.

Leeds sign Glen Kamara

As Farke tries to keep hold of his best players, he is still looking to add new players to his squad, too. Leeds have already brought in seven new signings (two of which are loans) but their business is not done yet.

As per a separate report from RomanoRangers midfielder Glen Kamara has ‘just signed as a new Leeds player.’

This is great news for Farke, who has been chasing the Finland international for some time. As previously reported, Kamara was expected to have a medical with Leeds today and it seems that has now been completed successfully.

Highly-rated 21-year-old Sam Greenwood left Elland Road for Middlesbrough earlier today, so Kamara is thought to be a replacement for him.

It’s worth noting that Darko Gyabi has also been linked with a departure, so Greenwood may not be the only midfielder to leave Leeds before the deadline.

Farke’s midfield options now consist of Kamara, fellow new signing Illia Gruev, Ethan Ampadu, Archie Gray, Jamie Shackleton and Lewis Bate.

The manager will hope that those players will have enough quality to help Leeds secure promotion this season.
