Gary Neville has launched into the Glazer family again
Gary Neville has launched another scathing attack on the “toxic” Glazer family amid reports that they have taken Manchester United off the market.
The Red Devils were put up for sale last November as the Glazers announced plans to end their largely unpopular 18-year reign at Old Trafford.
Raine Group, the US merchant bank, have been overseeing the sale of the club for almost a year, with Sheikh Jassim of Qatar and Sir Jim Ratcliffe emerging as the main two frontrunners.
However, despite multiple offers, neither Sheikh Jassim or Ratcliffe could get close to the whopping £10bn asking price set by the Glazers.
And now, according to the Daily Mail, the Glazers are now moving to end the sale process.
That stance has clearly angered Neville, as it will have done many United supporters, and the Red Devils legend has vented his anger at the club’s owners again.
Neville hammers Glazers again
Former club legend Neville has been a vociferous critic of the Americans, and publicly took aim at them after United’s bid to join the failed European Super League.
And on Sunday morning he responded to developments with another blunt assessment.
“I don’t believe the Glazers not selling/doing anything story,” he tweeted on X. “They have to do something. They’ve run out of money and the financial situation is desperate. They need investment in.”
Fans have long protested against the ownership and Neville also touched on the negative impact the saga was having on the club.
“They’re also having a toxic impact on the club from the inside out,” he added. “The negligence continues for now but I don’t think it can go on without some action on raising funds. Also who would come in as a minority alongside them with the damage it would do to their reputation?”
On the pitch, United are back in action on Sunday when they head to Arsenal in the Premier League.
