Jamie Carragher blasts Cristiano Ronaldo for terrible handling of Man Utd saga, before taking swipe at Roy Keane

Jamie Carragher has provided four reasons why Manchester United fans will be on the side of Erik ten Hag after the bombshell interview from Cristiano Ronaldo, while also criticising fellow pundits Roy Keane and Rio Ferdinand.

A few months ago Ronaldo promised to conduct an interview which would reveal all on his Man Utd problems. However, it took a while to come out and some were thinking he had decided against taking part in one.

But on Sunday night journalist Piers Morgan revealed he had spoken to Ronaldo about Ten Hag, Wayne Rooney, Man Utd as a whole and some other huge topics.

Ronaldo said he feels Ten Hag, and a couple other of the top brass at Man Utd, have made him out to be a ‘black sheep’ and are trying to force him out of the club.

The striker added that he doesn’t have any respect for Ten Hag because the Dutchman apparently doesn’t show any respect to him.

Ronaldo said he loves Man Utd and came back to Old Trafford last summer partly down to this. He admitted Sir Alex Ferguson also played a big role in his return.

But Ronaldo then launched a tirade against the club and its infrastructure. He doesn’t think there has been anywhere near enough change since he left the side back in 2009.

On Twitter, former Liverpool defender Carragher has reacted to the Ronaldo interview. He blasted the Portuguese for his poor handling of the situation and revealed why pretty much all Man Utd supporters will back Ten Hag.

Jamie Carragher hits out at Ronaldo, plus pundit jibe

Carragher said: “Ronaldo – ‘I don’t respect the manager’. Ronaldo under ETH: Announced he wanted to leave, refused to come on as a substitute, walked off the bench & left before the game had finished.

“99% of United fans will be on the side of ETH, which shows how badly Ronaldo has handled this.”

Carragher then hit out at fellow pundits Ferdinand, Keane and Patrice Evra. He claimed the trio will be the 1% of people to speak out in defence of Ronaldo.

In some ways, Ronaldo’s frustration is understandable. He cannot believe that the club has failed to improve its facilities in 13 years.

Plus, he wants to be shining in the Champions League and Man Utd simply cannot offer this right now.

Ronaldo goes too far in Piers Morgan interview

However, Ronaldo has definitely taken it too for with his interview. He joked about Rooney’s looks, said he hadn’t heard of Ralf Rangnick and, most importantly, undermined Ten Hag.

He is now definitely on a list of players who never should have gone back to their previous clubs.

It is clear that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is trying to ensure he gets a transfer away from Man Utd in January. He has timed this interview so it perfectly fits between the Premier League break and restart, which is down to the World Cup.

It is highly likely we have seen Ronaldo play his final game for Man Utd. But how his exit will go remains to be seen.

The Red Devils could try to cancel his contract, which expires at the end of the season. However, given his colossal wages, this will cost them a massive fee.

Alternatively, Man Utd might put Ronaldo on the transfer market and try to get another team to buy him. But as shown during the summer, few clubs have the finances to afford his wages. So asking them to pay a transfer fee on top of that may give the move no chance of happening.

Meanwhile, we’ve taken a look at five reasons why Ronaldo wants to leave Man Utd as soon as possible.
