Liverpool ‘love’ special Ghana star with Klopp plotting transfer bid and three rival suitors are named

Mohammed Kudus, Andre Ayew, Ghana, celebrate a goal at the FIFA World Cup in Doha, Qatar

The asking price Ajax will demand for Mohammed Kudus has been revealed, with TEAMtalk confirming that Liverpool are one of four Premier League sides keen on landing the attacker in January.

The Ghana star has served notice of is abilities with some stirring displays at the World Cup. He was on the scoresheet twice in the 3-2 win over South Korea, with the Black Stars needing a point against Uruguay to secure their place in the knockout stages.

His form in Qatar has certainly underlined his qualities, with Liverpool among Kudus’ suitors. Playing in a more central attacking role this season, a report earlier this week suggested he is emerging as a potential long-term replacement for Roberto Firmino.

Indeed, Jurgen Klopp has witnessed at first hand Kudus’ brilliance. During September’s Champions League clash at Anfield, Kudus thundered an unstoppable rising drive into the roof of the net to leave the Kop stunned.

That was one of four Champions League goals, together with two assists, he managed in six games for Ajax.

And with that sort of form, it’s easy to see why plenty of teams have taken note.

To that end, a report on Wednesday suggested Arsenal are ready to try and hijack Liverpool’s move for Kudus.

Mikel Arteta would like more cover and competition in his attack and the 22-year-old would appear to fit the bill.

Now TEAMtalk’s transfer expert Graeme Bailey can confirm that Kudus is a man in demand.

He tells us that his versatilty to play across the front-line is particularly appealing to several sides.

Furthermore, Bailey says Borussia Dortmund are also weighing up an approach, with his price tag now double the amount Everton almost paid for him over the summer.

“Few players at the World Cup have enhanced their reputation more than Ghana’s Mohammed Kudus,” Bailey said.

“Let’s get this right, no club will buy a player solely based on his two World Cup performances so far. But with Kudus starting just five league games for Ajax this season, it has given clubs the chance to see him play at the top level, and they have loved what they have seen.

“The great thing with him is going forward. And various clubs see him in different ways from a wideman, to a centre-forward even a CAM. His versatility is a huge draw.

“Sources close to Ajax have confirmed a lot of interest from England. Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle all like him. But I am also hearing the likes of Borussia Dortmund are keen too.”

Discussing the deal that almost took Kudus to Everton over the summer, Bailey added: “It is strange to think that Everton almost got Kudus for just £15m in the summer, only for Ajax to back off… And now they are asking more than double that, and there are clubs looking look like they could pay it.”

The Eredivisie looks a hotbed of top talent of late with Cody Gakpo another drawing plenty of attention.

Bailey continued: “With Kudus and Gakpo, the Dutch league looks like it could be getting plundered once again early in the New Year.”
