Luke Thomas looks to be heading to Sheff Utd and not Leeds

Leicester turned down an offer from Leeds for Luke Thomas as they did not want him to join a potential Championship promotion rival, TEAMtalk understands.

Leeds were keen on a move for Thomas before the close of the transfer window as they are desperate to bring in a new left-back to add to Daniel Farke’s squad.

Daniel Farke have been forced to play Leo Hjelde and Sam Byram at left-back so far this season with Junior Firpo currently sidelined through injury.

The Elland Road outfit made an offer to Leicester for Thomas, but the bid was flatly turned down as the Foxes did not want the defender to join a direct Championship rival.

Leicester instead have agreed to sanction a loan deal to Sheffield United for Thomas as they are in the Premier League.

Thomas has yet to feature for Leicester so far this season under new head coach Enzo Maresca.

Loan signing from Manchester City Callum Doyle has been preferred ahead of Thomas, with the Foxes youth product relegated to the bench.

The 22-year-old is in the final year of his contract at Leicester and he is now set to spend this season in the Premier League with the Blades.
