Donny van de Beek has been linked with a move away from Manchester United all summer and that could still happen despite the English transfer window closing.

The former Ajax star has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford and Erik ten Hag is more than happy to offload him.

The likes of Casemiro, Mason Mount, Christian Eriksen, Scott McTominay and now Sofyan Amrabat are all preferred by the Man Utd manager.

As previously reported by TEAMtalk, the Red Devils have been doing everything they can to sell or loan Van de Beek out, but were unable to do so before the transfer deadline on Friday.

Van de Beek signed for Man Utd back in 2020 after catching the attention of many top European clubs thanks to his fine form for Ajax.

He was even nominated for the Ballon d’Or for his performances in the 2018/19 season, when he helped the Dutch club reach the Champions League semi-finals.

However, the 26-year-old has made only 60 appearances in three years for Man Utd, most of which have been substitute appearances. Therefore, a move away from Old Trafford may be the best thing for him.

Galatasaray still pushing for Van de Beek

According to the Daily Mail, Turkish giants Galatasaray remain in talks over signing Van de Beek despite the English transfer window closing.

The transfer window in Turkey remains open until September 8 – giving them five days to negotiate a deal with Man Utd.

Van de Beek could join the likes of Wilfried Zaha and Hakim Ziyech who have ditched the Premier League for Galatasaray this summer, whose fans will hope that those additions will help them win a league title after a three-year trophy drought.

The Daily Mail notes that Galatasaray made a loan offer for the midfielder on deadline day, which was rejected. They were willing to pay a £1m loan fee to make the deal happen, too.

The Turkish club continue to push for Van de Beek’s signature. Man Utd would prefer to sell him, it is believed, but it is unclear whether the talks are for a loan or permanent transfer.

With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if Galatasaray can agree a deal with Man Utd in the next few days.
