Brentford have set their asking price for Ivan Toney as the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham continue to be linked with the prolific forward.

Toney is suspended until January 2024 for breaking betting rules and so will miss the first half of the 2023-24 campaign.

Brentford have done well in his absence so far, scoring five goals in their opening two matches and picking up four points. However, they will be keen to get him back on the pitch.

It recently came to light that Man Utd are interested in signing Toney in the January transfer window, once his ban has been lifted.

Erik ten Hag is seemingly keen to add another forward option to his squad to ease the pressure on Rasmus Hojlund. Man Utd have struggled to find the back of the net in their opening two matches so it makes sense they are looking at forward options.

Toney had a superb Premier League campaign last time around as he scored 20 goals and provided four assists. His overall game is of a very high standard and it’s no wonder so many clubs are interested.

According to The Times, Brentford value the striker at £80m. His current deal expires in 2025 and Brentford could see the January transfer window as the ideal time to cash in.

However, Thomas Frank does not want to lose Toney anytime soon. Frank has played a huge role in Toney’s development and he will be hoping the forward pens a new deal.

With bids expected to come in the January window, Brentford will be preparing for each eventuality. The Bees have shown they can cope without Toney, but losing him would still be a significant blow.

Arsenal and Tottenham also interested

Along with Ten Hag’s side, North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham have also been linked. Tottenham are on the hunt for a Harry Kane replacement and Toney could fit the bill.

Ange Postecoglou has quickly transformed Tottenham’s style of play, but there are still doubts over Richarlison and whether or not he can lead the line for Spurs.

The North London club have been linked with plenty of options, but Toney would be a statement signing for Spurs.

Arsenal are also said to be in the race to sign the 27-year-old. The Gunners have already done some business with Brentford this summer as they signed David Raya on loan.

Toney himself recently prised Arsenal for their style of play while doing an interview on the Diary of a CEO podcast.

“I’ve been a Liverpool fan my whole life, but from young I’ve liked Arsenal,” Toney explained. “I’ve liked watching Arsenal and how they play and how passionate their fans are. I’m a Liverpool boy at heart.”

Given his excellent track record in the Premier League, it’s no wonder that so many clubs are interested in the Brentford star. Time will tell if any of them are prepared to pay Brentford’s asking price of £80m.
