An Antonio Conte signing looks set to be unleashed under Ange Postecoglou next season, though the outlook isn’t as positive regarding a Tottenham teammate, per reports.

Tottenham sanctioned a pair of signings last summer that ensured they were well stocked in the left-back department.

Indeed, Ivan Perisic joined on a free from Inter Milan, while Destiny Udogie arrived from Udinese in a deal that could rise to £20m through add-ons.

Spurs already had Ben Davies, Ryan Sessegnon and Sergio Reguilon at their disposal, though the upheaval didn’t end there.

Reguilon was loaned to Atletico Madrid, while Udogie was sent back to Udinese for a year of seasoning. Davies was deployed primarily as a left centre-back in Conte’s back three, leaving Perisic and Sessegnon to battle for the starting left wing-back role.

Fast forward to present day and further changes in the left-back position are expected.

Davies has reportedly been made available for transfer, while according to Udogie’s agent, the talented 20-year-old is in line for a chance to shine under Postecoglou.

Speaking to Sky Italia (as cited by Sport Witness), Udogie’s agent, Stefano Antonelli, revealed: “Udogie’s story is clear.

“He’s from Tottenham and we’ve also had contacts in the last few days because they’ve changed the management, the coach and because they’ll play 4-3-3 and no longer 3-5-2.

“Postecoglu is convinced of Udogie’s space, but the Italians are calling because some think he needs another step, perhaps in an Italian top club such as Juventus, AC Milan or Inter Milan.”

Whether the attack-minded Udogie can play as a more orthodox left-back remains to be seen.

But if the agent’s comments are anything to go by, Udogie looks on course to be retained by Postecoglou next season and integrated into the Tottenham first-team.

Elsewhere, the outlook is far less positive regarding Reguilon.

Postecoglou ‘doesn’t trust’ Reguilon – report

The 26-year-old’s loan at Atletico was devastated by injuries, with Reguilon restricted to just 317 minutes of action across all competitions.

Unsurprisingly, Atletico opted against pursuing a permanent deal, and according to Sport Witness, Reguilon doesn’t have a future in north London either.

Citing reports in Spain, they bring news of Postecoglou taking a dim view of Reguilon. In their words, it’s claimed the Australian ‘does not trust’ the Spaniard.

Reguilon can reportedly leave for just £10m despite costing roughly £30m when plucked from Real Madrid back in 2020. However, finding a buyer to stump up the modest sum of £10m is proving difficult.

LaLiga side Osasuna are interested in signing the defender, though have reservations over the salary, transfer fee and Reguilon’s physical condition.

The fortunes of Udogie and Reguilon couldn’t be further apart at present.
