Pundit fears the worst for Nathan Patterson after Everton star carried off in Scotland win
Former Scotland defender Alan Hutton has revealed his concern for Nathan Patterson after the Everton star was stretchered off in his country’s 3-0 win over Ukraine on Wednesday evening.
Hutton was at the game and claimed the injury to Patterson ‘did not look good’, with the player withdrawn after just 26 minutes of the impressive victory for Steve Clarke’s men.
The Toffees are back in Premier League action on October 1 when they head to Southampton.
However, they could be without full-back Patterson, according to former Tottenham and Rangers man Hutton.
He told Football Insider: “The big downside is that he got stretchered off. I really felt for him.
“As a player, I think he is outstanding. He was thrown into the team at Rangers and handled it really well. He went from strength to strength. It was difficult for him because he had do dislodge [James] Tavernier.
“Look, it has taken him time at Everton. They were going through a difficult period last season.
“I always knew that when he got up to speed he would be a starter. There was no doubt in my mind. He has proved that to everyone now. He was brilliant against West Ham.
“I was at the Ukraine game and watched him get injured. It did not look good. He looked in pain. I really hope it is not as serious as first feared and he is back in action as soon as possible.”
