Alan Hutton believes Liverpool will ‘jump at the chance’ to sign Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk, who is wanted by a number of clubs.

Newcastle are said to be the latest club to have joined the queue to sign the Ukraine international, who is also a target for the likes of Arsenal, Everton and Brentford.

The exciting attacker is eyeing a move to the Premier League as he feels it’s a ‘natural’ progression.

And while Hutton knows Liverpool are not in need of a new winger for now, he claims that Jurgen Klopp will not ‘shut any doors’ if the 21-year-old becomes available.

Shakhtar currently value the winger, who has four years left on his contract, at £50million. However, that sort of figure is unlikely to put off English clubs, given who highly the player is regarded.

When asked if Liverpool need another winger, Hutton told Football Insider: “I don’t think they’ll be desperate for it.

“You never shut any doors. If an opportunity comes for a young, talented footballer that you believe you can make even better then the potential is there and of course you would jump at the chance.

“I think the Liverpool midfield needs a bit of work. But if Mudryk is available and he fancies Liverpool then you would jump at the chance.”

Shakhtar talks up serious talent Mudryk

Mudryk has made five appearances for Shakhtar across all competitions this season. He has scored two goals an provided an assist in that time.

As his reputation continues to grow, Shakhtar director Darijo Srna has added to the hype.

During an interview with CBS Sports, Srna claimed: “Mudryk is a serious talent. After Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr, he’s the best player in Europe in his position.

“If someone wants to buy Mudryk they must spend a lot, a lot, a lot of money. They must respect our club and our president.”

Mudryk reveals Arsenal admiration

When pushed about joining a ‘dream’ club, Mudryk did give a strong hint. The winger was asked if he would like to play for Arsenal or Real Madrid and said: “Yes yes, it’s hard to say but Arsenal is a very good team. Very good coach, I like the way they play.”

That appears to give the Gunners a headstart in the race to sign the attacking talent. However, money talks and Liverpool are likely to have more resources to get a deal done.

Newcastle have also been tipped to make a January move for the player. It just remains to be seen whether they decide to cash in on Allan Saint-Maximin or not.

In terms of Liverpool’s interest, there has to be some doubt over whether or not Klopp is willing to splash out big money for a player who is likely to start Anfield life on the bench.

However, there is so much potential in Mudryk’s game. Indeed, he could end up being the long-term successor to Mo Salah in Klopp’s attack.

The Reds are finally back in league action this Saturday when they host high-flying Brighton at Anfield.
