Rangers transfers: Training camp reveal prompts former Ibrox star to declare midfield exit

Former Rangers defender Alan Hutton believes a key first-team midfielder will be on his way this summer after being absent from the club’s training camp.

Glen Kamara has been tipped to quit Ibrox for some time but it appears that an exit is finally on the cards after Michael Beale made a number of new additions to his squad in the off-season.

And, speaking to Football Insider, Hutton said Kamara’s absence from the pre-season trip likely means that he will be on the way out.

Beale’s men are currently in Germany as they prepare for the new season, but the 27-year-old has not travelled with the rest of the party.

There has been no mention of an injury, unlike summer signing Dujon Sterling who remained in Glasgow to recover from a calf strain.

Kamara currently has two years remaining on his contract and when asked if Kamara’s absence from pre-season could suggest he is leaving, Hutton told Football Insider: “Normally that is what you find.

“I have been in enough camps over the years to realise how the dynamic works. If you are away with the first team then you are in the plans.

“If you are not and you are fully fit then you would like to think there is something in the pipeline and there has been conversations.

“It is better for the squad and manager to work with the players he is going to have for the rest of the season.“

Kamara joined the Gers from Dundee in 2019 for a fee of around £500,000.

The midfielder has made 193 appearances since then, netting nine goals and offering up 11 assists in those outings.

He has previously been linked with the likes Aston Villa, Sheffield United and Southampton.
