Sky Sports reporter reveals West Ham transfer plans but adds proviso over current squad
Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has provided an update on David Moyes’ transfer plans at West Ham ahead of the January window opening.
The Hammers have endured a tough first half of the season and currently sit 16th in the table, just a point above the relegation places after 15 gems.
That is in stark contrast to the last two seasons when West Ham finished in the top seven twice, while they also reached the Europa League semi-finals last term.
As a result of their success last season, Moyes was heavily backed in the summer window. Indeed, the Hammers spent a whopping £160million on eight new additions.
However, a combination of injuries, the new players taking time to bed in and Europa Conference League Thursday nights has taken its toll on West Ham through the first half of the campaign.
Moyes though is expected to be backed in January again in order for the Hammers to move quickly up the table and away from trouble.
West Ham to hunt January signings
And Sheth believes the Scot will be looking at where he can improve his side.
The Sky Sports man told GiveMeSport: “I’m sure David Moyes is looking to strengthen in all areas of the pitch.
“Having said that, there’s so many new players that have come in at West Ham United I think what his priority was, was to gel these players, and was almost pleading for time from the West Ham fans who were getting a little bit frustrated with the results.
“Saying, ‘look, just calm, just trust me. We’ve just got a whole new squad, or it feels like a whole new squad, they need time to bed in.
“A lot of them are coming from different leagues, they’re going to need time to settle in. So, I think that’s what David Moyes and West Ham United will probably be looking at doing in the next few months.”
West Ham are back in action on Boxing Day when they head to table-topping Arsenal.
