Matias Vina is closing on a move to Bournemouth

Bournemouth are in advanced talks with Roma over a deal to re-sign defender Matias Vina, TEAMtalk understands.

Vina spent the second half of last season on loan at the Vitality Stadium, with the deal including a permanent option.

The option in the loan deal was for £12.9m, but Bournemouth allowed the clause to expire in the hope of landing the defender for a cheaper fee.

Bournemouth are trying to negotiate a slightly lower transfer fee with Roma for Vina and are hopeful of agreeing a deal to bring him back to the Vitality Stadium.

New Cherries boss Andoni Iraola is happy to sign Vina on a permanent basis and the Uruguay international is understood to have agreed personal terms.

Vina made 12 appearances for Bournemouth last season, scoring two goals against Tottenham and Chelsea as he helped the club secure Premier League survival.

The left-back has also won 30 caps for Uruguay, with two of those appearances arriving since his move to the Premier League.

Now that move is destined to become permanent with the Cherries optimistic of sealing a deal in the next few days.

He will become Bournemouth’s third arrival of the summer after the signings of Justin Kluivert and Hamed Traore.
