Sources: Panicked Fulham move to wreck Tottenham, West Ham plans with bargain release clause a serious issue

Continued uncertainty at West Ham and Arne Slot’s rejection of Tottenham are causing panic at Fulham, though TEAMtalk understands they’re working desperately to tie manager Marco Silva down to fresh terms.

Silva, 45, has worked wonders at Craven Cottage this year. Fulham were relegated at the first time of asking in each of the previous two times they won promotion to the Premier League. They were many people’s favourites to go down again this time around, though currently lay in an incredibly healthy 10th place.

Fulham are assured of finishing above London rivals Chelsea and were in contention for a European place before their season tailed off down the stretch. However, the job Silva has done has not gone unnoticed.

Indeed, reports have linked Silva with West Ham and Tottenham. The former may yet part with David Moyes despite progressing to the final of the Europa Conference League.

Spurs, meanwhile, looked set to appoint Feyenoord boss Arne Slot as their next permanent manager.

A move for the Dutchman has since gone up in smoke, with chairman Daniel Levy forced into yet another re-think.

Silva would represent a forward-thinking and Premier League-proven option for both clubs and the presence of a modest release clause leaves Fulham vulnerable.

Silva will enter the final 12 months of his Fulham deal this summer and his contract contains a release clause worth just £6m.

Now, speaking exclusively to TEAMtalk, transfer insider Graeme Bailey told us Fulham are working feverishly to secure new terms with their high-flying manager.

Bailey revealed Fulham’s stance is they are not concerned. However, that is understood to be a mere façade and the Cottagers do hold concerns the modest release clause could see Silva poached by a London rival.

“Fulham insist they are not worried about Silva and are confident that they are going to tie him down to new deal,” said Bailey.

“However, whilst confidence is there – it cannot be argued they are worried for as a long as a new deal goes unsigned.

“They know West Ham are looking at alternatives to David Moyes and Silva is on their list. The Portuguese has also been talked about at Tottenham.”
