Sources: Rangers gunning for 28-goal striker as Michael Beale moves for signing No 4

Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland

Rangers are interested in signing Hearts hitman Lawrence Shankland who could become arrival number four at Ibrox this summer, TEAMtalk understands.

Rangers have already lined up three summer signings who’ll all officially arrive on July 1. Indeed, nine-cap England international, Jack Butland, will replace departing stalwart Allan McGregor between the sticks.

Elsewhere, right-back Dujon Sterling will join from Chelsea, while Kieran Dowell has agreed to ditch Norwich for Glasgow. All three players will arrive as free agents.

However, replacing Alfredo Morelos is now taking centre stage and TEAMtalk has learned Hearts’ ultra-impressive Lawrence Shankland is in manager Michael Beale’s sights.

The 27-year-old returned to Scottish football when joining Hearts from Belgian outfit Beerschot last summer.

Shankland was a revelation back in his home country, finishing third in the SPL’s top scorers charts in his first season back.

His mark of 24 goals was bested only by Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi (27) and Kevin van Veen (25) of Motherwell. Shankland finished the season with 28 goals across all competitions.

TEAMtalk has been told Rangers are showing strong interest in Shankland who features very high on their list of striker targets.

As such, the Ibrox club are understood to be weighing up putting an offer to Hearts for Shankland’s signing.
