Tottenham are offloading Tanguy Ndombele and Davinson Sanchez to Galatasaray

Tanguy Ndombele is set to follow Davinson Sanchez from Tottenham Hotspur to Galatasaray, according to reports, although each deal will have a different formula.

As highlighted in Monday’s European transfer gossip, Galatasaray are trying to sign Sanchez by the end of Monday. Their plan is to incorporate him in time to include him in their Champions League squad list. A three-year contract is waiting for the Colombia international in Turkey.

Now, it has emerged that another Tottenham misfit in the shape of Ndombele is also on the verge of joining Galatasaray. As reported by the Press Association, the midfielder will be moving there on loan with an option to buy.

It is a different kind of deal to the Sanchez one; indeed, the defender’s exit from Tottenham will be a permanent one for a fee in the region of €15m (£12.8m).

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has no problem with either exit, since one of his ongoing tasks since taking charge of Tottenham has been to reduce their squad size.

He is said to have specifically given the green light for Ndombele to leave after time-keeping issues painted him in a worse light following an ankle injury. Originally, Postecoglou was open to giving the Frenchman a second chance at Spurs.

A key motivating factor for Ndombele to join Galatasaray is their presence in the Champions League group stage. As mentioned above, they need to finalise negotiations quickly for him to be able to participate; UEFA’s deadline for registering group-stage squad lists is 11pm BST tonight, even though the Turkish transfer window remains open until September 15.

Thankfully for their sake, Ndombele has already completed the first part of his medical, according to Fabrizio Romano, and is due to fly to Istanbul today.

Former record signings set to leave Spurs

Both Sanchez and Ndombele will be playing in Turkey for the first time thanks to their proposed moves.

Ndombele, who has already had loan spells with Lyon and Napoli during his Tottenham career, will have one year remaining on his contract by the time a proposed season-loan loan deal would be over.

Sanchez and Ndombele both became Tottenham’s all-time record signing at the time of their respective arrivals. Each of them struggled to consistently meet expectations, though, so they are now due to depart for a new challenge.

In Sanchez’s position at centre-back, Postecoglou can call upon Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Eric Dier and Ashley Phillips instead.

Meanwhile, in midfield, he has Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur, Oliver Skipp, Pape Matar Sarr and James Maddison to use instead of Ndombele. There is also Giovani Lo Celso, who was linked with Galatasaray himself but is now expected to stay at Spurs by Romano.
