Tottenham plan for unused Paratici signing confirmed as agent immediately discards specific exit suggestion

Fabio Paratici, August 2022

The agent of Destiny Udogie has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur still have plans for the full-back despite doubts about the future of Fabio Paratici.

Sporting director Paratici has taken leave of absence from Tottenham after his ban from Italian football was extended worldwide. It has added another element of uncertainty to Tottenham’s planning for the future after they parted company with head coach Antonio Conte.

Udogie signed for Tottenham back in August 2022, but immediately returned to Udinese on loan. As such, he never got the chance to play under Conte. It remains to be seen if the man who brought him to the club in the first place, Paratici, will still have any kind of influence by the time he returns.

The left-back has been doing well with Udinese this season. He has played 25 times in Serie A, scoring three goals and providing three assists.

And according to his agent Stefano Antonelli, there is absolutely no reason for Udogie not to return to Tottenham in the summer, regardless of the Paratici situation.

Asked if Udogie’s future at Tottenham is at risk, Antonelli told Tuttomercatoweb: “No, for no reason in the world. He is an asset of Tottenham.

“Then it is clear that I hope that a positive justice comes to Paratici.

“We are all used to destruction, but for the good of our football I hope that this thing is resolved as soon as possible.

“The Tottenham project doesn’t change. Udogie was bought with the approval of everyone and many other professionals have called him important for the club.”

Tottenham won’t even loan Destiny Udogie out again

And when pressed on whether another potential loan exit for the 20-year-old is unlikely, Antonelli replied: “Yes, I already exclude it now.”

Udogie has a contract until 2027 waiting for him back in north London. Tottenham will be the third club of his career after his spells with Hellas Verona and Udinese.

Udinese left-back Destiny Udogie

It will be up to Udogie to compete with the likes of Ben Davies, Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic for a role on the left-hand side of the Tottenham setup.

How exactly Tottenham line up next season tactically will depend on who they choose as their next manager. Udogie has been featuring as a wing-back for Udinese this season. The Serie A side have tended to use a three-man defensive formation fairly similar to Spurs under Conte.

Had Conte stayed, Udogie could have been a ready-made asset to add to his disposal. But there is clearly a belief that the Italy under-21 international will still be useful to anyone who takes charge of Spurs in the months ahead.

After earning regular gametime with Udinese, Udogie will be hoping he can continue his development similarly with Tottenham. If not, leaving on loan again might have been an idea to consider.

But it is almost time for Udogie to make his name in English football. Tottenham will be eagerly waiting to see what he can contribute for them.
