Ten Hag urged to ignore Man Utd moves for Osimhen, Kane and sign ‘perfect’ alternative this summer

Manchester United have been tipped to overlook potential deals for Harry Kane and Victor Osimhem and bring to Old Trafford a striker that one observer sees as an ideal signing.

United are in the market for a new No 9 this summer, with Wout Weghorst’s stay unlikely to be extended. The towering Dutchman – a temporary addition himself – will be sent back to parent club Burnley once his loan deal expires.

And with United backed by many to mount a title challenge next season, Ten Hag is looking for a new regular source of goals. To that end, Ten Hag will seemingly be given the green light to spend big this summer.

As well as a new striker, Ten Hag also reportedly wants a new right-back and a top-tier central midfielder. Such business will likely hit United hard in the pocket.

However, in order to make such moves that bit easier, United will reportedly sell up to six players to boost their summer kitty.

That said, there is far more interest in learning which players Ten Hag actively wants to bring in. And with a new striker potentially setting United back a club-record fee, speculation is mounting on who they may target.

Harry Kane is often one such name linked. His Spurs deal expires in summer 2024 and failure to sign a renewal will further enhance his transfer chances. As it stands, however, the England captain is likely to commit to Tottenham.

Victor Osimhen is another name under consideration. The Napoli striker though will cost a premium fee and potentially well in excess of £120m.

Man Utd advised to move for Tammy Abraham

While the likes of Goncalo Ramos and Benjamin Sesko are sometimes mentioned, pundit Alan Hutton is advising an alternative name.

And he reckons Tammy Abraham has all the tools needed to fill United’s needs up front.

Abraham has seven goals and five assists in 34 appearances for Roma this season. However, there are mounting claims they could cash in on the former Chelsea striker if a tempting offer comes in.

Now Hutton, speaking to Football Insider, reckons Abraham would be “perfect” for Man Utd.

“I really like him,” he said. “I worked with him at Aston Villa, so I’ve seen him up close and personal.

“Not just on the pitch, but off the pitch as well. On the training ground, he works so hard to improve daily.

“He could do so well at a team like Man United, where they’re so in need of a number nine like him.”

Valued at around £60m – around half the price of Osimhen – Hutton reckons United could land a bargain.

“He wouldn’t cost as much as Osimhen, and I think Tammy has got the right experience to fit in and do well at Old Trafford,” he added.

Abraham’s deal at Roma runs until summer 2026 and while costing a fraction of the fee, he is unlikely to be United’s first choice.

To that end, the club will probably explore deals for Osimhen, Kane and even Ramos before Abraham.

However, the club will also be wary of some of the fees involved – and moves for the other three will surely cost the club a record fee.

Boasting a record of 34 goals in 84 games for Roma, his strike-rate of a goal every 2.5 games is not to be scoffed at.
