Tottenham have been boosted in their pursuit of Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly as they have learned a cut-price offer could be enough to land his signature.

Postecoglou has done well in the Tottenham hot seat so far. The Australian boss has already won over the Spurs faithful and has his side sitting second in the Premier League.

Despite the loss of Harry Kane, Tottenham ended up having a productive summer transfer window. James Maddison has already proven to be an excellent pick-up and several other signings have hit the ground running.

While the summer transfer window was productive for Spurs, they can’t afford to rest on their laurels. Postecoglou is still keen to add to a number of areas in his squad.

An extra left-sided centre-half would certainly be of use to Spurs and that’s where Kelly comes in. Tottenham held an interest in the Bournemouth defender throughout the summer, but a move didn’t materialise in the end.

Along with Spurs, the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle have also been linked with the versatile defender. Kelly can also operate as a left-back, but these days he is mostly used in the middle.

Given his current contract situation with the Cherries, Tottenham could land a bargain deal for the defender in the January window.

Tottenham could land cut-price deal

According to Football Insider, Bournemouth could be willing to accept a ‘cut-price offer’ as the defender is now into the final year of his contract.

The report explains that Bournemouth will try to tie Kelly down to a new deal, but if unsuccessful, they could be willing to accept a cheaper deal in January.

Bournemouth signed the defender for a reported £13m back in 2019 from Bristol City. It is not yet clear how much Bournemouth would be looking for in the January window.

When asked about Tottenham’s interest in Kelly, Andoni Iraola told reporters: “There have been different interests for different players, from different categories.

“It’s something normal, I think, in all the teams right now but there is nothing else than this.

“I think if something happens with Lloyd or with other players or other positions, it has to be something like I told you, with someone leaving, someone arriving. But nothing may happen and we stay as we. We don’t know.

“There are different interests here in all the deals, but we cannot rush it. For me, Lloyd right now, is my player. I appreciate it I think he’s a very good player and I hope he continues with us.”
