Tottenham have reportedly pulled out of the race for Wolves centre-back Max Kilman after seeing a ‘bid accepted’ for another defensive target.

Ange Postecoglou is keen to bring in several centre-backs this summer as Spurs look to bounce back from a dismal 2022/23 campaign.

Tottenham conceded 63 goals last term – the sixth-worst defensive record in the Premier League. So it’s no surprise Postecoglou wants to improve that.

The manager is willing to part ways with four of his centre-backs this summer as he looks to reshuffle his backline. Those players are reportedly Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez, Japhet Tanganga and Ben Davies.

Tottenham have had their eye on several defenders recently. The most heavily linked players are two Bundesliga centre-backs: Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven and Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba.

Another player linked with Spurs is Wolves’ Max Kilman. However, transfer expert Ben Jacobs has claimed that they have been ‘put off’ from making a move for the 26-year-old.

“Previously they have explored Max Kilman, but he’s not on their radar at the moment. He’s another who is good under pressure and in tight spaces. Maybe what put them off is the fact he didn’t have as good a season last campaign as the one before,” Jacobs said.

Tottenham swap deal ‘accepted’ for Victor Nelsson

Reports from Turkey (as cited by Sport Witness) claim that Spurs have seen a part exchange offer of €15m (£13m) plus Davinson Sanchez for Galatasaray centre-back Victor Nelsson accepted.

Nelsson is thought to be keen on a move to Tottenham. Now, it seems Daniel Levy has found a clever way of offloading an unwanted player while bringing in a new defender.

The 24-year-old made 35 appearances across all competitions for Galatasaray last season. In the process, he helped his team keep 17 clean sheets and scored two goals.

Nelsson’s performances have caught the attention of several European clubs. This includes Arsenal, who also have the defender on their radar.

It now seems that Tottenham have won the race for his signature, though, after having a part-exchange bid including Sanchez accepted

However, Sanchez still has to agree on a move to Galatasaray before the deal can go through. If not, Spurs will have to pay a straight fee of  €25m (£21m) to secure the Dane’s signature.

With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if Sanchez gives a move to the Turkish club the green light.
