Tottenham told Harry Kane will leave on a free as Arsene Wenger delivers Man Utd insane transfer lift
Tottenham have been warned that talismanic striker Harry Kane will give the club one more year to prove their worth – but a free-transfer exit in summer 2024 is beckoning, according to Arsene Wenger.
The England striker finds himself at a major career crossroads this summer. Having been loyal to Spurs his entire career, he has gone down in club folklore becoming all-time record goalscorer for club and country this season.
Next on his radar is Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League record of 260 goals, with Kane (209) now just 52 away from eclipsing him. However, whether Kane reaches mark in a Tottenham shirt remains to be seen.
As it stands, his deal at N17 is due to expire in summer 2024. Kane though has strongly intimated earlier this season that he is willing to extend his stay and remain loyal to Spurs.
However, a hugely-disappointing campaign – with the club now onto their third manager and on the brink of letting slip their Champions League place – leaves his future hanging in the balance.
As a result, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy faces an agonising wait to see if Kane will stay true to his word. And much may well depend on whom Spurs appoint as their next boss, with the club looking to reverse their worrying fall from grace.
Sensing an opportunity, Manchester United are being strongly linked with Kane, who they believe could be lured away this summer.
United boss Erik ten Hag wants to recruit a new, top-level striker – and Kane would seemingly fits the bill.

Wenger tips Kane to quit Tottenham on a free next summer
Now legendary Arsenal boss Wenger has had his say on Kane’s comments.
He believes that, reading the between the lines, Kane is hitting out at his teammates for allowing standards to drop.
Speaking on beIN Sports, he said: “Translated it means that not everybody gives the maximum to perform during training to be good enough in the game.
“Is it down the character of the players? Or is it down to the whole atmosphere inside the training ground or the coaches? I don’t know.
“You need to live every day with players to know what’s really going on, and what works and what doesn’t work.
“You have to create a culture inside the club that allows the players to perform.
“There needs to be clear rules for everybody to see what you tolerate and what you don’t tolerate. When you talk about values, most of the time it is [about] what is not tolerated.
“Players like Harry Kane have high standards. He is now frustrated because for years the team looked on the way up. Since two or three years they look to have failed again.”
More worryingly for Tottenham, Wenger believes Kane will snub the offer of an extension at Spurs and look to quit on a free transfer next summer.
He added: “If you are his agent, Harry Kane has one year to go. In one year, he is completely free, what do you tell him?
“Give your club a last chance and then you go.
“It’s not about money, but, in the end, it’s always about money.
“He will not go for less than £80million. You don’t find strikers of that quality.”
