Transfer Gossip: Man Utd told £50m bid will be accepted to beat Liverpool to midfield signing; Everton join Newcastle in hunt for Brazilian striker

Manchester United will see a £50million offer for a top midfield target accepted this summer, while Friday’s Transfer Gossip claims Everton will rival Newcastle in the chase to sign a highly-rated Brazilian striker.

UNITED TO BEAT LIVERPOOL TO CLASSY MIDFIELDER

Manchester United have reportedly been told that Wolves are willing to accept a £50million bid for midfield target Ruben Neves, whose Molineux contract will expire in the summer of 2024.

Wolves are expected to cash in on the Portugal international, as long as their asking price is met for a player who has also been on Liverpool’s radar for some time.

The report from Football Insider adds that Barcelona are also in the mix to sign Neves, although it’s more likely that he will remain in England given the LaLiga giant’s continued financial constraints.

Neves has captained the Wolves side in the current campaign and has netted five goals in all competitions for them.

Julen Lopetegui’s side are currently 13th in the Premier League table but are only three points above 18th-placed West Ham, and they fear an exodus of top stars if they go down.

Neves has emerged as a United target as Erik ten Hag looks to bolster his engine room for next season.

Both Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are the wrong side of 30 while Neves is still in his mid-20s.

Neves for McTominay as Ten Hag eyes upgrade

The Portugal star could be a straight replacement for Scott McTominay at Old Trafford, with the Scotsman strongly tipped to join Newcastle next season.

Neves is viewed as a box-to-box midfielder by Ten Hag who will give United a central goal threat.

As for Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp is set for a massive midfield revamp this summer given Liverpool’s struggles this season.

However, it looks as if United are ready to beat their bitter rivals to the capture of the Wolves man.

EVERTON JOIN NEWCASTLE IN RACE FOR BRAZILIAN HOTSHOT

Everton have joined Newcastle in considering a move for highly-rated 19-year-old Brazilian striker Giovani.

A report from ESPN Brasil claims that both Premier League clubs are monitoring the young forward’s situation at his current club Palmeiras.

The same outlet had already reported Newcastle’s interest in the player, claiming the Magpies had sent scouts to Brazil to watch him in action.

Now they claim that Sean Dyche’s men can be added to that mix ahead of a potential summer bid.

Nottingham Forest actually tried and failed with an offer of their own in January and it appears they are no longer in the running for his signature.

ESPN Brasil adds that it will take at least €15m (£13.2m) to convince the South American side to sell.

The player is also under contract until 2026 and is said to have a whopping release clause of €60m (£52.5m).

However, they will not demand that figure if genuine interest emerges. In just remains for Everton and Newcastle to make concrete offers this summer, assuming the former stays up.

CHELSEA RAMP UP RAPHINHA PURSUIT

Chelsea have reportedly stepped up their interest in making a move for Barcelona winger Raphinha after missing out on the Brazilian when he quit Leeds last summer.

The 26-year-old moved to Catalonia in a £55million deal, having played a pivotal role in keeping Leeds in the Premier League in 2021/22.

Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani revealed last summer that Raphinha was close to signing for Chelsea before he joined Barcelona.

Speaking to The Athletic, he said: “For me, it was done, and when I have a deal my word is my word. I felt ashamed to go back to Todd Boehly and change my position.

“We made the deal with Chelsea because the player wanted to go and he was open to listening to offers from Premier League clubs. Chelsea was in his favourable [option]. But unfortunately, let’s say Barcelona influences convinced the player to wait, to wait, to wait until they could find a solution.”

But despite performing well at the Nou Camp, Raphinha also has his critics and that has led to talk of a move back to England.
