Transfer Gossip: Liverpool, Arsenal locked in race to sign ‘next Erling Haaland’; Wolves star wants Barcelona switch as move progresses

Andreas Schjelderup Nordsjaelland

Liverpool and Arsenal are in the running to sign a Norwegian striker dubbed the ‘next Erling Haaland’, while Friday’s Transfer Gossip claims a key Wolves man is holding out for a move to Barcelona in 2023.

PREM DUO IN RACE TO SIGN NORWEGIAN STARLET

Liverpool and Arsenal are both reportedly locked into the race to sign Nordsjaelland striker Andreas Schjelderup, who has been labelled as the next Erling Haaland.

The 18-year-old talent has burst onto the scene this season with the Norwegian outfit.

Prior to the current campaign, he had scored seven goals in 39 games. However, this term, Schjelderup has already notched five times, adding an assist in 10 outings.

Given that the forward is being tipped as the next big thing to come out Norway, the comparisons to Haaland are obvious.

And his form has seen Premier League duo Liverpool and Arsenal keep tabs on his progress. They are not alone, though, with Spanish side Sevilla taking their own interest one step further.

The report from calciomercatoweb adds that the LaLiga side have already had a bid of £3.5million knocked back.

Nordsjaelland holding out for significant fee

Indeed, it’s claimed that Nordsjaelland are holding out for £17.5million for the attacker.

But in the lead-up to the January window, several other clubs are now lurking. Calcio adds that Juventus, Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund are also in the hunt.

Schjelderup’s current contract runs until the summer of 2024, meaning next summer will be Nordsjaelland’s best opportunity to recoup a significant transfer fee.

WOLVES STAR KEEN ON BARCA SWITCH

Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves has reportedly turned down advances from both Manchester United and Liverpool this summer in favour of pursuing a move to Barcelona.

Ruben Neves of Wolves celebrates scoring his goal during the Premier League match at Brentford Community Stadium, London.

The 25-year-old has established himself as one of the top midfielders in the Premier League during his time at Molineux.

That has led to the likes of United and Liverpool trying to smatch him from Wolves.

However, so far the Midlands club have resisted all offers for the Portugal international. But it appears that the player himself is desperate to move to the Nou Camp in 2023.

Barcelona are eyeing Neves as a long-term replacement for veteran midfielder Sergio Busquets, 34.

Neves has scored 25 goals in 220 games for Wolves, with some spectacular strikes along the way.

There is no doubt that were he to leave, Neves’ exit would be a hammer blow to Wolves. However, they would more than likely tap into the Portuguese market again to secure his replacement.

JUVENTUS IN CONTACT OVER FOXES STAR TIELEMANS

Youri Tielemans has entered the final year of his Leicester City contract and Calciomercato reports that Juventus are looking to take advantage.

Indeed, it’s claimed by I Bianconeri that Juve have already made contact in order to get ahead of the competition.

However, they will face strong competition from Premier League clubs, with both Arsenal and Liverpool having chased the Foxes star in recent times.

The 25-year-old has scored 25 goals in 127 games for Leicester since signing from Monaco.

However, he’s made it clear in recent transfer windows that he wants out of the King Power. Indeed, Tielemans wants to join a club playing on the Champions League.

As for Juve, they’ve had a poor start to the season and currently sit eighth in the Serie A table.
