Tottenham director Fabio Paratici will reportedly keep a close watch on Ghana striker Mohammed Kudus at the 2022 World Cup as he ponders adding a new striker to Antonio Conte’s squad.

The Italian coach has Spurs upwardly mobile. While there remains some question marks over his tactics and playing style, there are no doubting that results are improving in just over the year that he has been in charge.

Through to the last 16 of the Champions League, Conte is adamant that ‘anything can happen’ in a competition that saw Tottenham reach the final in during 2018/19.

However, in order to maintain their progress, Paratici and Conte know further additions are needed. As a result, preparations for the January window are being stepped up with a number of signings in their sights. Conte has a number of positions in mind to strengthen, first up being in the centre of defence.

And reports this week have suggested a much-maligned Spurs man may move in a swap deal for the cornerstone of Inter Milan’s recent successes.

Tottenham, though, also want to strengthen in midfield and a third raid on Juventus in 12 months, this time for Weston McKennie, is reportedly closing in.

The Spurs boss also wants more options in attack. Indeed, injuries sustained by Dejan Kulusevski, Son Heun-Min and Lucas Moura have left Conte a little light on options. As a result, Harry Kane has hardly missed a minute and is starting to look like he’s suffering with fatigue.

To that end, they are reportedly keeping a close watch on four-times capped France striker Marcus Thuram. His deal at Borussia Monchengladbach expires in the summer and reports claim he can leave for a fee of around £9m in January.

Tottenham take a look at Mohammed Kudus

As a result, Daniel Levy can sense a bargain amid reports a mouthwatering salary has been offered his way.

However, there remains a danger that Spurs will miss out on his signature. Inter Milan, Juventus and Arsenal are also on his trail, and they will all reportedly look to beat Tottenham to the punch.

As a result, il Corriere dello Sport claims Tottenham are also keeping a close watch on Mohammed Kudus.

The Ajax forward is enjoying an excellent season. Indeed, he has  six goal involvements (four goals, two assists) in six Champions League games. The 22-year-old also has six goals in five starts in the Eredivisie and Dutch Super Cup this season.

And the Italian paper claims Spurs scouts, led by Paratici, will be keeping an eye on his efforts at the 2022 World Cup.

His nation Ghana find themselves facing Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay in Group H. And Kudus will be hoping to use the stage to not only underline his impressive form but put the Black Stars into the knockout stages for only the third time in their history.

Kudus is on a deal at Ajax until 2025, meaning any deal is likely to be pricey. However, he has looked a very useful player during the Champions League. Furthermore, he has the versatility to play across the frontline that will appeal to Conte. As such, he would look a very useful signing for Conte if a deal could be done.
